The Halloween Fact Families Worksheet – Addition and Subtraction helps students practice related math facts using spooky haunted houses. This free printable Halloween fact families worksheet features four number triangles, each with three numbers that students use to complete addition and subtraction equations. Choose between a partially colored page and a black-and-white version.
Practice Addition and Subtraction with Haunted Houses
Each haunted house displays three numbers on its roof. Students use these numbers to write two addition equations and two subtraction equations in the spaces below. The four number families are 1, 2, and 3; 3, 5, and 8; 4, 6, and 10; and 3, 4, and 7. Altogether, students complete 16 equations.
This activity helps first and second graders explore the relationship between addition and subtraction. Students practice recognizing how the same three numbers form four related equations. Teachers can use the worksheet for independent math practice, morning work, or a Halloween-themed lesson. The black-and-white version also gives students the option to color the ghosts, bats, pumpkins, and haunted houses after completing their equations.
