Here comes the sun with a big smile, and it’s not alone! The 8 planets revolving around it also show their faces on these free Solar System worksheets!
This set offers both a reference sheet, available in color or in black and white, and an activity sheet. The large sun appears at the bottom of the page. Above it, all 8 planets are arranged according to their position, Mercury being the closest and Neptune the farthest. Moreover, dotted lines represent their orbit. Of course, the illustration does not respect the scales of sizes and distances (it is difficult to do so on a small piece of paper!). However, this is a perfect document to show the main characteristics of each planet. For instance, kids can appreciate colors, relative sizes and if the planets have ring systems, such as Saturn or Uranus. On the activity sheet, children can write the name of each planet inside boxes.
These free Solar System worksheets are ideal to teach primary school students, especially second and third graders, how the Earth and the other 7 planets orbit around our star, the Sun.
